Millions of people start their days by looking up at their phones, checking out notifications, mails, etc. They make use of phones and especially internet services at almost every second. And the major part of their data usage is consumed by the most commonly looked up web service: GOOGLE. By receiving around 63,000 searches every goddamn second, Google takes up almost 90% of the global search engine market. Imagining a world without Google is a very daunting task. Do you know that our brain capacity is 1400000 cc? And if you cut down the tasks performed by Google every day, all of it drops down to 1400 cc! That’s where we are left at after removing this Big Friendly Giant from our lives. Almost at nothing!
But still, keeping the reality in our minds that Google still persists, let’s try to face this nightmare for once!
FALLEN ECONOMY
When not even the simplest of the searches could be made on Google, think what the scenario would like when this iceberg would hit the industries! Everything, from the smallest of the search made on Google to the biggest of the business meetings being conducted on video conferences , every single damn thing is possible only because of Google. There are others platforms too (like Whatsapp, etc) but their speed and compatibility with the latest OS versions is too slow and outdated. Even when you compare Google Duo and Whatsapp, the former undoubtedly steals your heart. Economy might fall because of the sudden downfall in virtual labour. Systems will keep failing and various applications will get crashed. The world would be turned upside down only because a single element will be eliminated from our lives.
BACK TO BUYING MAPS FROM LIBRARIES
When Google would be eliminated from our lives, so will its various services. And the most prominent of all, the one which is used by modern humans all the time: “Google Maps” will be out of the picture too. Although there is one major substitute – “Apple Maps”, but since not everyone has access to apple electronics, that’s out of our options. It would be like travelling back to the time when people used to buy maps from libraries to find best routes to reach their destinations. This wasn’t much of a priority when in the earlier days, all you needed to do was point your live loaction and the destination, and the route would be made out by Google alone.
DYING OUT OF HUNGER!
The moment Google Maps are forgotten, there is no way for apps like Zomato, Swiggy, etc to be present in the picture. Imagine how labouring would it be to step out of your door under the scorching sun, travel all the way to your favourite restaurant and get your meal packed when you have been already accustomed to getting it delivered at your door.
WHERE WILL YOUR ‘RESET PASSWORD’ LINKS HEAD TO?
When you would open your phone for mails, again, there’s no gmail. You have Yahoo! and other services like that but the habit of using gmail has led you to forget your passwords for other mailing platforms. And suddenly, you would get to the point. That every account you have created till now, every registeration you have made online is all linked to google. Google is the backup account for every other. All the links to forgotten passwords and changed settings come to your gmail. And now that very foundation to your every other id is lost, you will have to start from the beginning all again.
WHEN CAB-CALLING GETS MORE DIFFICULT
DRIED UP DEVICES
What’s your phone without Google? Without Gmail, Maps, Drive, what’s your device all about? Even youtube is owned by Google! The moment Google goes down, it’s downhill for Youtube too. It’s just a rotten world, with laptops’ and phones’ essence been taken out. Like pieces of dry skeletons, they lie there. Without any soul. Without any meaning. Afterall, who wants to go back to the times of Yahoo! and Hotmail when something more powerful, handy and ‘QuickSilvery’ is there?
REACHING MAXIMUM PUBLIC EXPOSURE
Instead of looking down into our screens all the time, we would actually be compelled to face the entire human race. No more avoiding people by acting busy on phones or laptops. Introverts are going to die because of the elimination of our Big Friendly Giant. Although it’s not like that the entire internet is going down, but it’s something like that. Google is an extremely important part of our lives, even though we do not realise it.
Now, coming back to the reality, let’s first take some deep sighs and relax ourselves. It was just a lucid imagination and not a single part of it was real. Google still exists, and probably thousands of searches are being made at this second too. Obviously, earlier civilisations have had their milestones acheived without it, but trying to picture a world without Google at this moment, where a person can access any document in his pc from anywhere around the world is simply impossible.
So, let’s embrace the very existence of this miracle that keeps changing our lives each day in a million ways.
