The past of any society is very important. If we consider it in the context of tribes, then this question becomes very complicated whether they should be left alone in the ancient life-condition in the form of primitive human civilization or they should be given an opportunity to progress in the modern system of science and technological progress ? Along with this, this question is equally important whether in the name of their development they should be left to break down in front of the modern complex state system and social system or they should be given enough opportunity to be comfortable and dynamic in the new environment ? Well, there are many such issues about the tribals which should be talked about, but today we will tell you about their daily routine and some other unheard things –
This aspect of the lives of the tribals is still hidden
There are many hilarious, sensational details about the sex life and customs of the tribes , but the human suffering of their family life is not described. One can certainly get an eyewitness account of their supernatural beliefs , witchcraft and strange rituals , but hardly anyone tells about their struggles in life. They are still presented as a wonder, as a different breed of humans .
Culture of the tribes
When we call some castes primitive, we mean to say that they are examples of the state of our life before our present life, but this too is not said on the basis of facts. There are and have been so many types of cultures in different geographical environments on the world map that it has to be said that the culture of every society is its template and the template of any one culture is not complete in determining the characteristics of a common culture.
Cultural Tribes of Jharkhand
This region and its indigenous communities, which include tribes and Sadani communities , have been living in a harmonious and egalitarian society for centuries. This history is about two thousand years old when the Nagavanshis, the original tribe of the Sadani communities, formed a kingdom in Chhota Nagpur.
Tribes are said to be different from humans
A section of scientists has been stressing so much on the isolation and disconnectedness of tribal and non-tribal cultures of India that today we have started considering them as completely different, but on considering them in historical context, it becomes clear that they are not as different and disconnected as they are understood and explained. Many tribes have transformed into castes of Hindu society and many cultural characteristics have also become characteristics of its general culture. In the places where they have not been transferred into castes , there too they have maintained contact with non-tribal communities.
Tribes are considered more civilized than humans
If we look at these primitive people, they are more civilized than us. Their community is such that if a man kills a wild boar in a group of 20-50 people, it is divided among all. If someone catches a fish, it is divided among all. Is it like this in our society ? So are we civilized or them ? We can fight with our neighbor over food.
How do tribes view the government?
The tribals of Niyamgiri say that they have come to know the government only during the struggle. When the government was preparing to build wide roads on the mountains of Niyamgiri , then we came to know that in fact this road construction is not for the development of the tribals of Niyamgiri. It is for the companies coming for bauxite mining. Then , the people of Niyamgiri gathered and started a struggle against it. Then for the first time they came to know what the government is. Perhaps the government also does not know that Niyamgiri is not just the name of mountains and forests. Tribals also live here.
What do the tribals of Niyamgiri want from the government?
For the first time during the struggle, solar lights have been provided to the villages located inside the forests of Niyamgiri. The elderly of the village are getting old age pension and rice. Some people say that the forests and mountains belong to the government , but the government itself belongs to the people. The forests and mountains belong to the people living here. The tribals want schools and hospitals on the mountains, not any kind of company or police camp.
Tribals consider their unity as their strength
The tribals of Niyamgiri have no money, no police force either. Their strength lies in their unity. They do not become brokers for money.
Are tribals anti-development?
It is about a seminar – there people were telling the tribals that the tribals oppose everything. The government wants to develop them , but they themselves do not want development, they oppose roads. On this the tribals said that they do not oppose schools and hospitals.
But they will definitely oppose the construction of a 50-foot road for the entry of companies, because then thousands of vehicles will pass through their homes daily. Police , contractors , brokers , market, everything will enter together. Their women will be raped. When their children are seen roaming alone in the forests , the police will call them Maoists and shoot them , as they are doing even today.
Along with the forests and mountains, their entire life will also be destroyed. Even after this, people keep repeating that the tribals do not want development. Then the tribals said , okay, write it on a paper that even after the road widening, the companies and the police will not enter the forest. Hearing this, everyone remained silent.
How important is money among tribal people?
Even today, tribals take other goods in exchange for grains, there is a tradition of barter. Other people bring clothes , soap , oil , salt , rice and the tribals take pulses , castor seeds , oranges , lemons and whatever is available on the mountain and exchange the things needed, so what is the use of money inside the forest ?
In case of illness, they treat themselves with herbs in the forest itself and at the time of delivery, the child is born in the village itself and there are very few who die.
Their view on the fact that living in forests and mountains is difficult
On this question, a tribal once said, “When we went to a big city for the first time, it seemed very scary. City people are afraid of tigers and bears in the jungle , but in the city they are afraid of people of their own kind. This jungle is more frightening than life in the mountains.”
He further said, “We do not know in the jungles what it means to be afraid of humans. Our girls roam alone in the jungles. Boys take down saplings from trees. There is Dhangra , Dhangribasa in the village , where the youth meet and talk . There are rivers and waterfalls on the mountains. There are fruits and flowers. There are various kinds of tubers and roots. We do not have any shortage of food and water.” It is proved from their words that they are quite happy in their surroundings.
These were some interesting facts related to tribals and wild species, I hope you liked them.
